You may of seen my picture on facebook and instagram yesterday of my little daughter helping put together the dinner. She loves to help with food and I think it is great for encouraging healthy eating, as they are more likely to want to eat things they have helped to prepare. She is only 4, so of course I had a very close eye on here when we did anything near the oven. She had saw everything that went into the sauce and we talked about it as we prepared, she even had an attempt at slicing the onion. Making the cucumbers all pretty with her star cookie cutter was definitely her favorite part.
Anyway we had a bit of pasta leftover so of course that went into today’s lunch for my son. I kept my daughter off again as he fifth disease rash had flared up in the morning. It was looking pretty good tonight and she feels fine, so she may go tomorrow depending on how the rash seems in the morning. She is keen to see her friends.
Today’s lunch is:
- Organic fish fingers
- Leftover pasta with homemade sauce (tomatoes, onion, garlic, grated butternut squash and a little stock)
- Cucumber and baby spinach
- Penguin crackers
- Yogurt with homemade fruit sauce
- Raspberries with white chocolate chips
I also always send a refillable water bottle.
