Lunch Box 3

Another lunch box combination. My son said he enjoyed, the toasted English muffin last time I put one in his lunch box, so added one again this time.  He also ate his apple slices this time, so I am am hoping the slice wrapped in cling film kept them from going brown. What I did was cut two big slices of the end of an apple, put them both together and then wrapped them in the cling film. If anyone has any other tips for keeping fruit from going brown in lunch boxes, then please do share.

This box contains:

Snack 1:

  • Toasted English muffin with butter and honey
  • Yoghurt

Snack 2:

  • Spinach and Feta muffins
  • Apple Slices
  • Mozzarella Cheese stick

as well as the above, I also send him with a water flask and a fresh 100% Juice box.

Lemon juice helps prevent them from going brown and just leaves a light crisp tang that compliments the fruit nicely. When I would put apple slices in the boys’ lunches I would lightly toss them in lemon juice.

I use an apple corer and slicer to slice the apple but then keep it all together in place, core included with an elastic band and put it in a food bag, my daughter won’t eat them if they’ve gone brown but always finishes it if I prepare it this way!
