Prune Porridge

This porridge is a delicious breakfast choice for your little ones, the prunes add a little sweetness and it is so quick to make too. It is thick enough to give to your little ones who are baby led weaning and yummy enough for your older kids too.

Prune Porridge

Serves 2 (kid sized servings)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of old fashioned oats
  • 1 cup of water
  • 4 prunes, finely chopped
  • milk, to serve
  • honey (omit for under 1’s)

Directions

Add the oats and prunes to a saucepan with the water, bring to a boil and then simmer until thickened.

Stir through a little whole milk to make it nice and creamy. You want it to remain a little thick so that it clumps together enough for your little ones to pick up. You can also drizzle with a little honey for over 1’s or serve as it is for baby led weaning.

My youngest would grab handfuls of this and suck it through her fingers.

You can also try adding different dried fruits. Raisins work well, as does steamed apple/pear/peach etc The variations are endless.
